2021.12.02 00:32 BR-404 Why Chili Pepper cookie isn't that good

Hello!
Many players often come to this subreddit to get team build recommendations and the most frequent and agreed-upon tip is to switch out Chili Pepper for other damage dealers, if you still use her. However, I don't see many people going in-depth about why Chili Pepper isn't exactly a good cookie, which ends up confusing many beginners.
So, this post is separated in two parts: part 1 focuses on why most beginners hesitate to take Chili Pepper out from their teams; while part 2 is going to explain why Chili Pepper isn't your best option as a player in any level above very early game. I think this type of analysis is relevant so beginners can grasp some knowledge about the game, which comes in handy later on.
Part 1: Why do beginners hesitate to switch out Chili Pepper?
I think that this hesitation happens for 2 reasons: 1) a lack of knowledge about other cookies and 2) lack of familiarity with the power level system. These two elements are intrinsic to a beginner's experiences. No beginner starts out knowing everything and that's fine, just take your time and learn bit by bit.

  1. A lack of knowledge about other cookies: Chili Pepper is everyone's first Epic and damage dealer cookie. This creates first of all an "emotional" connection like: "Wow! My first Epic, she must be great!". Not only that, but a beginner doesn't know how strong other Epics are and can only compare Chili Pepper to common or rare cookies that aren't damage focused. This leads to many people overrating Chili Pepper due to a distortion in perception. Simply put, beginners don't know how good other cookies are, so they think Chili Pepper is good.
  2. Lack of familiarity with the power level system: power level doesn't matter that much! This is super important, especially when it comes to team building. Something most beginners aren't aware is that the power level is a biased measurement. This basically means that when a cookie's power level is calculated, there is a bigger emphasis/weight on the attack stat rather than other stats. As a result, ambush and ranged cookies almost always have a bigger raw power level than, let's say, a support or healer cookie. That's because ambush and ranged cookies have an overall higher attack stat. On top of that, power levels can hide or create the illusion of a cookie's true potential: it doesn't show what the cookie's skill does, for example. As you progress in the game, big power level matters less than a well built team that has cookies with good synergy or cookies with good skills. And I have two examples to illustrate that:

Part 2: Why Chili Pepper cookie isn't your best option
OK, we've arrived to the meat and potatoes of this post.
Despite being arguably the most important part of this post, the reason Chili Pepper isn't that good boils down to one "simple" reason: her skill.
In fact, what usually makes or brakes a cookie is its skill (or a combination between skill and stats). So, we are going to analyze it and then see how Chili Pepper fares against other cookies.
Damage multipliers: a damage multiplier dictates how much damage the skill does and the higher, the better. A level 60 Chili Pepper cookie has a multiplier of 105.6% and hits 4 times. This is due to a combination of both a low base multiplier in level 1 as well as due to very low percentage increments as you level up her skill (only 0.6% more on each level). This low multiplier makes her incapable of handling tanky back-liners like Pure Vanilla.
"Special Effect" (this part is a little hairy): aside from more damage, Chili Pepper's skill also has a guaranteed critical hit on the last (fourth) hit. This is what makes her skill something above just a glorified regular attack. However, for you to make this last attack count, you would have to invest on critical damage toppings, which, as the name suggests, really only improve the damage on critical hits (that is to say, only the fourth one). You can then invest on attack, which will increase damage to all 4 hits. This means that building her isn't as straight forward as putting 5 searing raspberries focusing solely on attack. But he biggest issue is that there is no other effects. Chili Pepper doesn't provide any buffs/debuffs, which diminishes her utility. TL;DR: Chili Pepper's skill is lackluster.
"On-field effect": Chili Pepper performs her attack in a perpendicular line in relation to the enemy team, hitting the rearmost enemies. Therefore, she has a very limited area of attack and can easily miss opponents, rendering her skill ineffective.
All these aspects, by themselves, don't actually mean much. But if we were to make a comparison to other cookies, it becomes clearer that Chili Pepper pales in comparison to almost all other Epic, damage-dealing cookies. That's because while other cookies have similar problems in these aspects, none of them have problems in all three like Chili Pepper does. So let's compare Chili Pepper with some cookies! (Note: for damage multipliers, I considered all cookies in level 60, since percentage increments from skill leveling up are also important).
Chili Pepper vs. Espresso: Much like Chili, Espresso's biggest appeal is his big damage. However, while Chili Pepper's DMG multiplier is 105.6% over 4 hits, Espresso's is around 141.8% over 7 hits and a multiplier of 178% in the eighth one. On top of that, Espresso's interrupts other skills. On-field, Espresso also can hit all cookies and drag them together, allowing for combos with Latte, for example. Result: Chili Pepper loses out in damage multipliers, "special effect" and "on-field effect".
Chili Pepper vs. Black Raisin: one may think this is the fairest comparison, however, this is a deceptive comparison. Similar to Chili Pepper, Black Raisin also just deals more damage. However, not only is Black Raisin's multiplier better (139.7%), but she can hit enemies in any position (though she seems to prioritize the mid-line) multiple times. Result: Chili Pepper loses out in damage multipliers and "on-field effects".
Chili Pepper vs. Mango: finally, a cookie whose damage multiplier is (barely) lower than Chili Peppers (105%). However, Mango's attack hits all enemies and gives his team an attack buff of 10%. Result: Chili Pepper loses out in "special effect" and "on-field effect", while winning on damage multipliers.
Chili Pepper vs. Werewolf: this one is a bit tough. Which might seems hopeful to Chili Pepper, but you have to remember that Werewolf cookie is considered one of the worst cookies in the game (about which I can write another whole post about). Just keep in mind that, although Werewolf cookie was made to be a damage dealer cookie, his attack isn't particularly high and his multipliers don't pull the weight of his low attack. On top of that, his 20% HP bonus has little to do with the rest of his skill. All in all, while the result leans favorably to Chili Pepper, I wouldn't consider this a big victory to her.
Chili Pepper vs. Squid Ink: another fairer fight to Chili Pepper, as Squid Ink also just deals damage with his skill. Chili Pepper does have a higher multiplier (yay!). However, Squid Ink hits all enemies. Result: wins out in DMG multiplier, but loses when it comes to "on-field effect".

I hope this post was enlightening to some degree, especially to new players, even though it ended up quite lengthy.
I would also like to highlight that this is analysis is focused on a more competitive/analytical playstyle. If you don't really care about skills and stats, that's perfectly fine, thanks for reading anyway!

2021.12.02 00:32 SovietSchisms Why is hate supremacy mode!

Legit this was 5 mins ago! So I’m playing the WZ-112-2 right! I’m on 2.7k dmg! I’m in a 1V4 and I’ve killed 3 of them. Rammed and HE’d the Rhm, Smacked the IS-2 in the arse, and killed the Tiger 1. The last guy is in a FV 301. He’s on 300hp. Now props to him he made the right decision for his team and secured the win! But wtf man!? I’m about to get a mastery probably. I think a Kolobanovs or however it’s spelled. The one for surviving and winning a 1v3. But instead he caps the bases and hides, all while calling me name and being a general douche because he knows exactly what he’s doing. It’s just so aggravating! I’m turning off supremacy mode now lol! I was also on 4 kills! If killed a Eagle 7 as well! Gosh this is rage inducing! This game ! That it is!

I have just had a new phone delivered and it came with a SIM card and, although I'm not sure if it is an expanded network SIM card, I have to assume it is not because I entered its ICCID and it said something went wrong and if I say I don't have an expanded network SIM card, it prompts me to find a store.

2021.12.02 00:32 erinwrestles Use your hotel points

For the past few years I have had zero clue that I could use all the hotel points I get working for things other than actual hotel stays and perks.
My coworker mentioned earlier she uses them to buy a thing. I had no idea that the points could be used to shop.
I used points to do some Christmas shopping and started getting my packages today. I got 5 people on my shopping list done without spending a dime… not even shipping.
Passing on the new found points use for anyone else who never bothered looking at what points can be redeemed for- like me for the past few years- in case any one else is as broke this year as I am.

2021.12.02 00:32 Boring_Dimensions New to clay and was offered a 30 yr old kiln for free

The kiln is roughly 30 yrs old. Will need new wiring and new plug to work. Is it worth taking?
I don’t have a ton of information on the kiln itself. But I was told that I would need to spend some money to get working but it’s cheaper than buying a new one…I just bought a wheel and a friend of a friend offered me their old kiln. They said I would need to install new wiring to make it read digitally….
Not sure it’s worth it for me but thought I might ask ppl who know better than I do..
Part of me is like take it Bc it’s free. Another part of me is thinking if I did want a kiln I should invest in a newer one that’s ready to plug in and go. I don’t have a ton of space to have a kiln and since I know very little about this one I don’t know the requirements it needs for venting etc.
Anyways stupid to pass it up? Or stupid to take it?
